Geek Out with Farha – Again!

Cross-Training
Belly Dance Geek Clubhouse Episode 63:
My guest, Farha, will talk about the value of cross-training in various Middle Eastern oriental and folk dances, regardless of your chosen style.
As dancers, we have all heard that cross-training is beneficial. But we usually think of cross-training in terms of studying traditionally western dance forms (e.g. ballet, salsa, jazz, etc.). Farha is going to make a case for the benefits and the importance of cross-training within the Middle Eastern dance family (oriental and folk dances).
You’ll learn:
- How recognizing different styles helps us celebrate them
- Why cross-training in MENAT dances is especially beneficial
- What you get out of studying and understanding different styles
We’ll also have some discussion time, so you can ask Farha your questions.
About Farha
Farha means “Joy” in Arabic and She teaches and performs in the New York Area in order to share the joy of this dance with anyone who needs a little more sparkle in their lives (and don’t we all?) Farha is also inspired by her students as they learn to control their bodies and gain new voices in her classes. She is always seeking ways to expand her knowledge and skill with a focus on the Egyptian styles, she travels whenever possible for workshops with some of the best teachers available.
